Zoral vs Oral-B: Tongue Scraper Comparison
The main difference is that Oral-B's tongue cleaner is a feature of a toothbrush, not a dedicated scraper: it is a small moulded surface on the brush head, while Zoral is a single curved wide-blade scraper in 316L surgical-grade steel made only for the tongue. Zoral makes the 316L surgical-grade stainless steel scraper in this comparison, so we are one of the two options here and we will say plainly where Oral-B is the better buy.
| Zoral | Oral-B | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | 316L surgical-grade stainless steel | Built into the toothbrush head (material not specified by Oral-B) |
| Shape | Single curved wide-blade scraper | Moulded tongue cleaner integrated into a manual toothbrush head |
| Edge | Smooth polished edge | Moulded cleaning surface on the brush head rather than a scraping blade |
| Travel case | Included (single or pack of 2) | No travel case |
| Subscription required | No, buy once | No |
Where Oral-B wins
- Nothing extra to buy or store: the tongue cleaner comes with a toothbrush you already use
- Available in almost every pharmacy and supermarket
- Some Oral-B iO electric toothbrushes also include a dedicated Tongue Clean mode
Where Zoral wins
Zoral is the 316L surgical-grade steel scraper in this comparison. Here is where it has the edge over Oral-B:
- A small moulded surface on the the brush head covers far less of the tongue per pass than a wide scraping blade
- It is replaced along with the toothbrush, so it is never a dedicated long-term tool
- Using the same head on your teeth and then your tongue is less precise than a separate tool with a proper scraping edge
The verdict
Oral-B's built-in tongue cleaner is fine if you want something rather than nothing and do not want another item by the sink. If you want to scrape your tongue properly, a dedicated scraper does the job much more effectively: Zoral's wide 316L steel blade clears the tongue in a few strokes and lasts for years.
