Zoral vs BreathRx: Tongue Scraper Comparison
The main difference is the material and availability: the BreathRx scraper is a flexible two-sided plastic scraper that Philips now lists as discontinued, while Zoral is a single curved wide-blade scraper in 316L surgical-grade steel that is in stock. Zoral makes the 316L surgical-grade stainless steel scraper in this comparison, so we are one of the two options here and we will say plainly where BreathRx is the better buy.
| Zoral | BreathRx | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | 316L surgical-grade stainless steel | Plastic (listed as thermoplastic by resellers) |
| Shape | Single curved wide-blade scraper | Slim, flexible plastic scraper |
| Edge | Smooth polished edge | Two sides: a soft side for sensitive tongues and a regular side for a deeper clean |
| Travel case | Included (single or pack of 2) | Varies by listing |
| Subscription required | No, buy once | No |
Where BreathRx wins
- Two scraping sides in one tool, so you can pick the soft side for a sensitive tongue or the regular side for a firmer clean
- Light and flexible, with a slim profile meant to reduce gagging
- Designed as part of a complete bad-breath routine alongside BreathRx tongue spray, toothpaste and rinse
Where Zoral wins
Zoral is the 316L surgical-grade steel scraper in this comparison. Here is where it has the edge over BreathRx:
- Philips lists the BreathRx tongue cleaner as discontinued, so you are relying on leftover reseller stock
- Plastic wears and is harder to keep hygienic long term than smooth, non-porous steel
- Reviewers note ridges along the scraping bar that can feel rough and trap debris, where a polished steel edge glides and rinses clean
The verdict
If you already have a supply of BreathRx scrapers and like the soft-or-regular two-sided design, there is no urgent reason to switch. If you are buying new, Zoral is the easier pick: a 316L stainless steel scraper with a smooth polished edge that you can actually still order and keep for years.
